Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd has told companies in the region that he means business!
Boothroyd was the guest speaker at a Premier Club event at the Ricoh Arena, where existing members were given the opportunity to ask questions of the new manager.
They were also given further details on how they can renew their membership for a further five years and take advantage of a discounted rate until the end of June.
Many businesses renewed their membership on the night, with Warwick company Sandell Interiors, which has been trading for more than 40 years and is a national specialist in internal refurbishment and fitting out, one of the first to sign up.
Nissar Khan, business development manager for Sandell Interiors, said: “We have four seats in the Premier Club and did not hesitate to renew our membership as a number of benefits which include inviting customers to a corporate hospitality experience at the Ricoh, rewarding our staff members with a matchday experience in the Yorkshire Bank Lounge and, last but not least, we have made a number of friends and contacts with other members.
“Having a number of Sky Blues fans in our workplace including myself, we were very keen to meet and hear Aidy’s thoughts. I think everyone who attended was very impressed with his views and plans on the team for next season.
“I was most impressed with the positive atmosphere and the buzz he created in the room about his desire and hunger to get the club back to the Premier League. Also it was encouraging to hear that his priority on players is to bring some extra pace from the wings and up front where most of us City fans were crying out for last season.
“Hopefully this can be the season where we make real progress!”
Boothroyd said he knew where he wanted to strengthen his squad. He said: “You’ve got to get the balance right and that doesn’t mean spending hundreds of millions – sometimes that can burn a hole in your pocket.
“We’ve already made enquiries about players but you don’t always get the first one. You can’t just recruit talent – they have to be hungry and they have to have the right character.”
Trudi Colledge, manager of Premier Club, said: “Aidy talked a great deal of common sense with real passion and that was certainly well received by the audience and we were delighted with the number of members renewing afterwards.”
