Mercia, Coventry and Warwickshire’s number one commercial radio station, are delighted to announce that they will be broadcasting full match commentary on all of Coventry City’s games for the forthcoming 2009/10 season.
Mercia MD Dave Fisher said: “I’m thrilled that Mercia are able to deliver kick by kick coverage of the new season to Sky Blues fans.
“We’ve always had a fantastic relationship with the club and this was the next natural step. We’ll be updating fans with all the latest news from the Ricoh during the week and I’m looking forward to Mercia bringing City fans some good news over the course of the season!”
The deal with the Sky Blues is one of the first pieces of business for Mercia’s new parent company, Orion Media, following their purchase of the Coventry based station, along with BRMB in Birmingham, Beacon Radio in Wolverhampton, and Wyvern FM in Worcester.
Liz Cooper, marketing director for Coventry City Football Club, said: “We are delighted to agree this link-up with Mercia.
“It is absolutely vital that we explore every possible avenue and reach every potential Coventry City supporter in the area.
“This level of coverage on a local commercial station will go a long way to reaching an untapped audience for Coventry City.
”We look forward to working with them over the course of the season.”
