Community pharmacy chain Lloydspharmacy has today signed a deal to extend its agreement as Coventry City’s official healthcare partner for the next three years.

The Coventry-based company, which has its headquarters in Walsgrave, has also agreed to become a new stand sponsor at the Ricoh Arena, taking over from telent.

Steve Gray, Lloydspharmacy’s trading director, said this would raise the company’s profile at one of the region’s landmark buildings.

“We initially became Coventry City’s official healthcare partner last season and it proved to be extremely successful for both sides,” he said.

“It gave us the opportunity to become more involved with supporters and the wider community through the Sky Blues’ Good Sports Scheme which focuses on healthy eating as well as a number of health awareness events and initiatives involving fans.

“We wanted to extend our partnership as well as further increase our profile both locally and nationally through brand awareness and it seemed a natural progression to become a stand sponsor. Our arrangement also gives us access to the fantastic facilities at the Ricoh Arena for company events and conferences.

“Lloydspharmacy will also help Coventry City’s players with vaccinations, prescriptions and advice when it is required so this really is an excellent partnership for both our company and the club. We very much look forward to working with them to make this a successful affiliation.”

Daniel Gidney, chief executive of the Ricoh Arena, said this agreement was an extension of the partnership which started last season.

He said: “Lloydspharmacy is a major employer in the city and this deal is a great way of supporting the local community in various ways.

“They will continue the excellent work they started last season with a number of initiatives to improve the health of Coventry City supporters as well as become our newest stand sponsors.

“We are holding more and more conferences for blue-chip clients due to this year’s £3 million investment in our conference and exhibition facilities.

“Everyone connected with the Ricoh Arena and Coventry City is looking forward to working more closely with Lloydspharmacy.”

Lloydspharmacy is one of the country’s leading pharmacy retailers. The company employs more than 750 people at its head office in Walsgrave and has over 1,650 pharmacies across the UK.
